Cyril B. Romney – Founder
The late Mr. Cyril B. Romney obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Business Administration and a Master’s Degree in Economics and Political Science.
Mr. Romney had the rare distinction of entering the Teaching Service. Subsequently, he transferred from Education to Public Administration in the Civil Service of the British Virgin Islands and held the posts of Administrative Secretary to the Minister of Works and Communications, Permanent Secretary to the Chief Minister, and the BVI’s first local Financial Secretary.
Mr. Romney took early retirement from the Civil Service after 27 years of public service and pursued a career in private enterprise as a business and travel consultant with the firms of Romney Associates Consultants and Travel Plan Tours, which he co-owned with his wife, Lily.
Mr. Romney was elected to the Legislative Council in 1979 and served his second legislative term as Chief Minister and Minister of Finance. He was elected for two further four-year terms in 1986 and 1990, respectively, during which he served as Leader of Her Majesty’s Loyal Opposition.
Mr. Romney is credited with introducing the financial services industry to the BVI, which now serves as the Government’s leading revenue source. He was also widely respected as the pioneer of cruise tourism in the BVI.
Lilian Romney – Co-Founder
Lillian A. Romney was a prominent figure in the British Virgin Islands (BVI), recognised for her contributions to business and public service. She was married to the late Chief Minister Cyril B. Romney.
Mrs. Romney was the co-founder of Romasco Group. She owned commercial properties in Road Town, including “Romasco Place” on Wickhams Cay and “Harbour House,” which housed office spaces.
She is remembered as a visionary and trailblazing entrepreneur who left a lasting impact on the Virgin Islands community.
Marian Romney-Chomiak – Director of Finance
Marian Romney-Chomiak graduated with a Bachelor’s degree, garnering double majors in Banking and Finance and Business Administration. Upon returning to the BVI, Marian gained experience in the family business as a Port Agent and Tour Operator, responsible for the company accounts. Marian is the Managing Director of Romney Associates and Travel Plan Tours and is also the Group Director of Finance.
Patricia Romney – Director of Operations
Patricia Romney holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a Minor in Sales & Marketing and Transportation. Upon returning to the BVI, Patricia joined the newly opened Nanny Cay Resort as Assistant Manager, prior to joining the pioneering wireless communications company CCT Boatphone in Sales & Marketing. In 1991, Patricia joined Romney Associates with the particular responsibility of managing and developing the fleet operation of the company’s vehicles and vessels.
